1. First, you need to fix your MBR (Master Boot Record) on you hard disk, so that you can boot Windows again normally. To do this, boot from your Windows CD, access the Recovery Console, and type "fdisk /mbr" without the quotation marks.

2. I may be slightly off, but GRUB, when you boot from your Flash drive, should still be able to boot Windows. If not, you will have to edit your "menu.lst" file. This is located in /boot/grub. I'm not an expert at doing this. If you want Windows to be the default, you should just cut and paste the Windows entry, so that it is on top. If you cannot boot Windows, try playing with the settings. But be careful!

I am doing something similar I found that Super Grub Disk will repair your MBR on windows, also found in its options is if you put it in your comp and then start it, it has options so that you can boot from your flash drive into linux, but you have to use the disk every time to get into it. If anyone knows a better way I would like to know.

Check out your BIOS settings and set the flash drive to come first instead of your main Windows partition. You can purchase or find free partition managers that can offer a boot menu on startup.

Sounds like you screwed up your MBR. Look on google for programs that will "reinstall" your master boot record.

You could also install grub on your laptop on a partition.
