I resently bought a Macbook 2.0 Ghz for school but everytime I get in to the wireless internet at my house it will work for like 5 to 15 minutes then it goes out. I have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router and I have to reset it everytime the web goes out. I used my friends Dell and hp and they work fine. So why does the macbook make the internet go out?

I am about to purchase a Dell desktop for my kids. Dell only wants to sell me Windows vista which I do not want since I have XP on all my other computers. Can I purchase the computer with no operating system and then use the disks from my new laptop to install Windows XP? (I understand Dell's pricing structure, so no need ot tell me it is cheaper to order it with vista already on it.) Thanks.

My laptop died a couple of years ago. I still have it put away but I'd like to salvage the files that were on the hard drive. The laptop doesn't want to turn on at all. Not even the fans or the lights turn on. Not sure what's going on there. Is there any way I can save the files I have on there without paying a lot of money to have someone do it for me?

EVERYDAY - without fail - my internet stops working at around 6:30 p.m. and won't come back on until atleast 10:00 p.m. It also stops working at random intervals throughout the day. I own a business and have to do a lot of my bill paying online. Sometimes in the middle of it all my internet stops working and the transcations get messed up. Due to this I have lost THOUSANDS of dollars. I have Verizon DSL. I call them and complain but all they do is guide me through this long process and they don't really help. We do not want to switch our ISP (Internet Service Provider). But we really want to know what's causing the problem. Any ideas? Could someone be jamming or signal - inadverntenly or otherwise? Has anyone else experienced this? Thank you in advance!

Therefore, should I but a seperate cooling fan or cooling system for the nVidea or just upgrade the cooling system all together or will the stock be okay??

OK, I've learned my lesson and I won't do it again. But, here's what happened when I tried to download a song. First time: After it downloaded, I moved it to my Apple library and clicked on it. Very stupid, because it was too short to be the song and was not the song. I deleted it and then tried to "empty the trash" and the song wasn't even in the trash bin. Suspicious? Then I tried to download the song from another source. It looked like it was downloading just fine. But, when it completed downloading, it just vanished. ??? I'm not usually this stupid. Is there anything I can do at this point to protect against viruses or spyware? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Or did I just move the bottleneck to the CPU? At some point getting a better video card does not mean anything because the game is CPU bound. Should I get a cheaper video card because my CPU is so old and can't really push the video card?

My movie maker was working good untill my mom tried to copy a CD with it instead of the media player. now I try to go on it, and a window pops up saying the movie maker has encountered a problem and needs to close. It suggests e-mailing an error report (I've mailed about twenty by now) All I want to do is fix it without paying someone to do it ,or buying new software that's simmilar (which I just might do if this dosen't work) any suggestions?

eMachines T3506
Intel Celeron D Processor 352
3.20GHz
553 MHz FSB
512 KB L2 Cache

Video
ATI Radeon Xpress 200 with available PCI-express slot

Hard Drive (not so important - its enough for me)
120GB

Memory
880MB DDR SDRAM (its supposed to be one gig but its shared)

Video Memory
128MB I guess...

I was planning to upgrade to a 400-500 Watt Power Supply (max) and then to a video card from nVidia. If i did this, i would have full 1GIG RAM and video memory not shared. RIght now i know my video card sucks, and my processor is not the best but its all i can have for the next 2 years...

1. Is it worth upgrading?
2. Is the Celeron D processor that bad?
3. If i upgraded video card and power supply, could my computer be better for things like gaming, etc.?
4. Is it hard to switch power supplies?

I just saw the following website:

http://www.openoffice2007.com

Can this guy get away with charging for something like this? I know that Linux distributions do the same, but they generally contribute to the community...

Just curious. I use MS Office most of the time, but I've been a fan of OpenOffice since its StarOffice/StarWriter days, and I still rely on it on one of my computers.
