i have a Broadcom 4300 and I can't get linux to recognize it. therefore i can't connect to the internet. i'm running kubuntu. please don't ask me anything else about it, as i don't know much about linux.

okay, so i can connect to the internet using windows xp. don't bother with that triviality.

"Broadcom".

There's your problem right there. Broadcom utterly refuses to make Linux drivers. You will have to use a tool called "ndiswrapper" to use Windows drivers in Linux for your card.

It should already be installed on your system. If not, do a "apt-get install ndiswrapper" from your command line. Follow the instructions found in the link I gave you, and you MIGHT get your card working.

You'll need to use ndiswrapper or a commercial program called Linuxant DriverLoader. Both will use the Windows drivers to allow the wireless card to work.
