I am looking to build a new computer for college. My budget is around $500. The current setup I wish to purchase is

I have been given a Packard Bell and have tried connecting it to my Advent using USB connections (not sure if I amusing the correct ports but other items have just plugged in and worked) and I am struggling as I have no CD for the PB. Can anyone help as I would like to use the floppy drive to get my work onto CD's.

i always see a white blank at the top of the internet explorer whenever i browse! it covers up like 1/4 of the page!!!!! i absolutely have no clue on wht to do!!!

I have decided to build a new computer but being on a limited budget i don't want to spend more than i have to at first. I wanted to get a crossfire motherboard but only buy one graphics card, buying a second card when i had some more money. Having looked on a few websites i can't find any information on whether the computer would work with just the one card, i assume it will but want to be sure before i buy. Can anyone help?

hi, the pc wont boot from dvd, only cd, so i go into windows 98 and run the dvd from there, click new interlation and leave it,
when it has done some stuff it restarts and starts running xp setup on it own, then it comes up: SiSRaid.sys is missing and then resets it self. any idea???


i have tryed to set the pc up to boot from dvd but on the bit there is ! and thats it. it will only boot from a cd not dvd but still the same drive??? oh well.

I was able to do this on the last version, whichever version that was by clicking on "view" and changing the font size to extra large.

Now I just downloaded Internet Explorer 7 on my computer and dont see how to make the font larger .

I bought a 2nd hand PC today from a car boot sale. The guy I got it from told me it was empy and ready to use, however its full to the max with bloody games, how the hell do I completly reboot it? I just bought a GE stereo headset/mic. I want to be able to make .wav files. The mic works, but I can't get the audio to the headset. The audio only comes thru my stereo speakers. How do I get the audio to my headset? And how do I make .wav files?

I don't know much about ram compatability, but I do know that a 184 pin ram wont fit into a 240 pin ram slot. However, since both RAM's the older DDR2 and the newest DDR3 both have 240 pins, I am assuming that the two are interchangable (fitting wise). I don't know if it would be wise to use DDR3 RAM in the motherboard and or mix the two (I can assume that this is probably not reccomended). How can I know exactly what type of ram my motherboard is capable of having. If the slots are 240 pin, and DDR2 and DDR3 are 240 pin (at different speeds however) it would be logical for me to think that it COULD work...Any help would be nice because I am still learning about this stuff. I don't wanna mess up the Alienware that is comming soon...
