First you should check to see if your laptop is under warranty. If not you should take to a local computer repair shop, by sending it through the mail, you risk more damage to it. Plus you should ask around, trying to see whose good and whose not

I own a shop in Houston, and have a local tech who does all my work for me. He can fix almost anything, including repair soldering on the motherboard.

Call your local computer shops, and ask them if they have or know a technician who can do board level testing and repairs.

If they say yes, ask about their prices and turnaround. A week or so is quick for a laptop repair, and if parts are needed, it could be 2 weeks. If you need it faster, offer to pay for rush service.

I take my stuff over on Monday and Thursday, so I can get a quick turnaround.

Ask for references for similar repairs, and call the folks up and ask if they got good service. As a shop owner I am only too happy to provide this information so my customers can bragg on my skills. If they balk, go elsewhere. Give them a day or so to get the references, though, they may be busy.
