I know it was designed to have backwards compatibility, but I have heard that people have had trouble getting it to work.

i have recently been receiving some pretty disgusting emails. the subject is always something perverse but spelled oddly, inside the emails they contain a link, which stupidly i clicked on, only once, only to find it is some sick porn. as the time goes on, the subjects have become increasingly more disgusting, which has now concerned me as i do not wish to be involved in something immoral and illegal. i noticed that the majority of the time they have not even been addressed to me, but to people with the same three beginning characters of my hotmail address. i junk them immediately but i am getting fed up as i have no interest in looking at this content and have never signed up for any either. any ideas????

Someone gave me their old computer as a gift. It's a Compaq Presario that used to have Windows `95 before they removed it. Now it has nothing except a dos prompt. There's no homepage or start menu. It has a Pentium (1) processor. I was considering installing a newer version of Windows to use it for offline purposes only. I'm not sure if I would need a startup disc in order to install anything.

I recently bought a Leadtek 7600GT AGP 8x DDR3 256MB graphics card and installed it on a MSI K7N2 Delta - 2 LSR mainboard.

The problem is for games such as battlefield 2, the game hangs before i can start play while it's optimizing the geometry and shades, etc. The 2nd time i tried it the blue screen came up saying a screen dump.

I have changed the settings to "high" and set the resolution to 1024 x 768, but i can never seem to get the game to work under my new graphics card.

I've tried with a lower settings such as 800x600 on the new card but the game would hang again while optimizing geometry, shades, etc.

I've tried changing the AGP Aperature size back from 256MB back to 128MB on the new card but it didn't work either.

I'm also running on a AMD sempron 3000+ with 2 x 512MB of RAM.

I've already updated to the latest graphics driver from Nvidia website and my BIOS is up to date as well.

Could anyone identify the problem? Thx in advance

I turned on my computer one day to find it running REALLY slowly,
I assumed it to be a parasite or spyware, and whatever I try to get rid of it doesn’t work:
-I first tried to run the Task Manager which it responded by saying it was disabled by the administrator. I tried to delete the block in the REGedit but it just keeps reappearing.
-I then ran the system restore, to find it disabled and all my previous reset points deleted. Even after reactivating it and attempting to restore, it fails to do so successfully.
-Deleting temporary files and cookies and such took forever (it kept crashing my explorer) but I did it in the end.
-I’ve run AD-Aware several times, but it just keeps finding more stuff to delete.
-WHATEVER spyware I run, it ALWAYS FAILS TO UPDATE MY DEFINITIONS.
-When I search for things on Google, it keeps redirecting me to another search engine.
-My security settings for IE refuse to be set below Medium, and although the bar appears, it will not let me run ActiveX.

I signed up to get a free laptop just to see if it would really happen! I was just woundering if I would really get one or not! And the way I found this is when I was tryin' to find a song to download on my mp3 playa and I found a couple sites but I had to go though all of this stuff that I could sign up for and ya so I was really gettin' sick of all of that so I thought ok I will just try and see if I could really get one of these things so I tried the laptop thing where I guess you could get it for free so I tried it so I am just unsure if I should just keep waiting for one or not?! And it has been at least a week since I signed up for that!

In India, Hewlett-Packard is offering a free USB based TV tuner card with all laptop purchases. The brand is Hauppauge with remote, which they claim costs 6500 Indian Rupees. And I need to register the product and send them 500 Indian Rupees as postal charges. Now how good is the product quality? And what is the actual market price of this?
They also happen to be offering a free USB Based External Data Card with the laptops. Again I need to register the product and take a connection with Reliance Web World for 3300 Indian Rupees.
Now dont you feel this is a very cheap gimmick by a company like HP? The promotions are splashed all over and its only after purchasing and registering the product the customer understands he needs to shell out extra money to get these free offers.
Due to such company promotions present, the dealer also backs away from providing any freebies with the purchase, which they otherwise do. And finally the customer is kind off cheated by HP as well as the dealer
