the childrens internet protection act(cipa)requires all schools libraries receiving certain federal funds to install and use blocking software to prevent students from viewing material considered "harmful to imnors".however, some studies conclude that blocking software in schools damages educational opportunities for students,both by blocking access to web pages that are directly related to the state-mandated curriculums and by restricting broader inquiries of both students and teachers.in your view,should the schools block access to certain internet websites?

i have a movie on my computer that's a mdf file and i cant play it. i've tried using my real player, windows media, and DivX. am i supposed to download something that will play it? i heard something about "alcohol 100%" or something like that, i think its a program or software?

I have something that keeps creeping up on my PC. I have no idea what it is or how I am coming in contact with it. Whatever it is, it completely slows my computer down. I can't even play a CD without it sounding glitchy. The only way I know to get rid of this is to keep reformatting my computer and that is getting very old. I have Norton anti virius, but whatever this is, it bypasses my norton and eats my computer alive. Please help.

I know that the fan turns on to cool off the cpu, but it seems like it keeps on turning on more frequently than ever before. About every five minutes or so, and I am not doing much. It has been like this for several days now, but I do not want to do recovery. Any suggestions to what it could be?

After doing a clean re-install from Windows XP CD, I went to Microsoft website and downloaded all the updates (60 of them!!!). Then, I installed McAfee Internet security suite and Office XP. Things were eprfectly fine until now, even afetr several reboots. Then, I went ahead and downloaded SP2 from Microsoft webpage. It then restarted my computer. Now, I get the Dell logo, Windows logo, followed by a blue screen with the following error message:

STOP: c0000221 {Bad Image Checksum}
The image rpcrt4.dll is possibly corrupt. The header checksum does not match the computed checksum.

Any ideas on what I need to do? I didn't want to try and re-install Windows XP again. It's a slow process. I wanted to make sure if that will help, before starting off the process. Any other ideas?

- they are detected as 'new hardware' but 'database is locked' and drivers won't load - how do I unlock the database??

I have checked the cables, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling them - but still get the 'database locked error!

like while im just surfing, and maybe having media player in the background, it just randomly freezes for no reaosn, and i have to restart the comp, im not even able to go into tast manager, or even move the mouse

it only happens when the comp has been on for like the whole day

i think it happens when it starts paging.like when the ram is finished.idk

its nothing to do with spyware /viruses, coz i do scans all the time
and my old 512 ram comp never just froze and it always had viruses on it..

this one has 800 megs ram

When i click on iTunes, a window pops up. The window says; iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvienience. I click send Error Report but it doesnt do anything. Debug doesnt do anything either. Ive tried everything: I've "repaired" it and I've reinstalled it. Its been like this for almost a month! Help, I miss my music!

With the newest version of iTunes, if you click a song, wait a few seconds, then click again, instead of making the selected field editable, it plays the song. It's not a major issue, but it really gets on my nerves. Is this just how iTunes is now?

My laptop is connected to the internet, but when I go to Firefox or IE nothing happens, could this be a winsock error? What could it be?

(My computer connects through a wifi modem, but that is beside the point and don't let this confuse you to think that it is problem. I already had my modem checked and it is fine.)
