McAfee Maniac It's just a normal update. The latest version is 2.8.304. If it is using more resources than normal close the browser then try uninstalling it, and then reinstall it. It can be found in the Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs.cAfee Maniac Differences between SiteAdvisor 26.6 vs. 2.8 Today is automatically installed in Firefox 3.0.3 SiteAdvisor 2.8 I had previously installed directly, from the site of the SiteAdvisor, the plug-in for Firefox: SiteAdvisor 26.6. Now I have installed two versions of SiteAdvisor: version 26.6 and 2.8 ¿What's the difference? ¿Do I have to uninstall one of them? Everything indicates that SiteAdvisor 2.8 consumes lots of memory. Any comments on this? Windows XP SP3 Firefox 3.0.3 Internet Explorer 7 AVG Free 8.0.175 Comodo Firewall 3.0.25.378 Comodo BoClean 4.27

The free version is good enough (for me, anyways). The new features aren't much more helpful (checking of email and IM only gives a result if a rating is in the database; most spam or virus links in them are new sites and would not give a rating), and warning you in advance about a 'dangerous' site may or may not be an annoyance. I actually find the heavy advertising of SA Plus on the report pages a disincentive to buy it; therefore, I would not recommend it, but it's your choice.

No. The free version of McAfee is good enough. If you want little check marks next to email links and in your IM program, you can pay for it. But you can always look up to see if the site is good online.

Jibbars correct on the free version. It works just fine for any of the websites I visit. Only goes red from time to time.

I wouldn't get anything from McAfee, or Norton. They both just take over your computer. People have had all sorts of stories on here about those 2 outfits.

I use the free version and find it more than sufficient.

Your mileage may vary!
