no sound on my pc?

running vista
red X beside the speaker logo
says " no audio output device is installed"

well, the sound card be out of the socket ~ it could also be fried... but lets not go there yet.

easy fix : take it out and uninstall any hardware for the card and then restart the pc with card still out. then after restarted turn it off and put card back in this will reinstall any corrupted and or damaged hardware components!

is it a laptop?
if not do u have speakers attached?
is ur volume up?
