okay, so i used to have a laptop, and it stopped working but the hard drive was perfectly fine. Recently my dad took out the hard drive and is now using it on his laptop because his hard drive crashed. Since he is using my old hard drive right out of my old computer, would everything still be on it? documents and pictures and such?
PLEASE HELP.

I'm trying to fix up my computer, to boost it's performance but here are my current specs. and the specs. I hope to have on my computer when finished.

Currently:

-Pentium 4 running @ 2.8GHz
-Intel Extreme Graphics [yeah, on-board graphics sadly]
-512 MB of RAM [I'd like to know whats compatible for my system so I can upgrade to 1GB]
-40GB Hard Drive

Here are the things I want to upgrade, any help would be nice!

-some sort of PCI [I don't have AGP or PCIe] graphics card with NVIDIA that gives good quality gaming for the Sims 2 and GTA San Andreas
-1 GB of DDR RAM [512MB x2]
-160 GB ATA Hard Drive [since my motherboard dosen't have SATA]

***If anybody can help me find hardware for me that is compatible with the Dell Dimension 3000 and try to stay within a $170 budget [at the most, I can get the graphics card and hard drive, the RAM could wait] I'd greatly appreciate that!***

I went on this site and i think it downloaded some sort of virus or spyware on my computer. Now, I keep recieving pop ups. I have a firewall installed as well as symantec, spybot search and destroy and lavasoft adaware remover. Ive ran all these programs multiple times but im still recieving the pop ups.
When i run symantec it detects some spyware and removes them but after start up i still keep recieving the pop ups?
What can i do?
I think the program thats causing this is "winantivirus". But, Symantec is reporting it deleted. There are also a few threats found that it says : action taken "left alone"

i want 1 program to do the lot (including shrink)....tried many free downloads and none will not fit full films on a 4.7/120min disc......made plenty of copies with 58minutes worth and thats all i get.....ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT thanks

I run a website (www.stjohncastleknock.com) and we just got a new domain (www.stjohncastleknock.ie). There are 20 email addresses for .com, and because people will still email the .com email adresses. I was wondering how you can make it so that when someone emails ####@stjohncastleknock.com it goes to ####@stjohncastleknock.ie Any ideas?

I really just want itunes back, i had a lot of problems with it... I downloaded it a while ago it worked fine...then all of a sudden it kept saying dont send so I downloaded it again... same thing and i downloaded quicktime too... this time I downloaded the older version which I like better anyways now it comes up :

" The file ~itunes Library.itl~ cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes"

Please someone tell me how to fix this, no guessing I can do that on my own aha...

I have a dell optiplex gx 240 motherboard with a 1.5 cpu and a optiplex gx 260 motherboard with a 2.4 cpu. Can I take the bigger cpu and switch out the older smaller cpu without any problems?

I bought my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li1705 Laptop 2 weeks ago. The problem is that 2days ago it started cutting off the internet and saying connection lost But my desktop pc in the same room was fine. After a few more blips i system restored and reinstalled all the drivers. Know when i try to connect to my wireless network it doesnt ask for a wepkey even though its a password protected network?? Also when im connected it said for limited time?Also It has now finally cut off and it said connection timed out. How do I fix this?

Hey i just got a new computer and it has a wireless adapter (belkin 54g usb) but no ethernet. My laptop has ethernet and is able to connect to the internet and it also has a wire less card (D-link 650+)... is there any way for me to connect to the no ethernet pc wirelessly with its card and then use the internet through that i know its just internet connection sharing but how do i connect the two pc'c wirelessly to start with... thanks for you help BTW: i dont have a wireless router thats why im having to do this.

Hello This Q is for my moms pc. I am not a know it all but I know a few things about computers. But there is always somthing new they do so thats why im here. Her computer is a 3 1/2 years old HP Pavilion a3o5w. Within the last few days her computer will randomly shut off and on occation it will turn its self back on a few moments latter. Some times it will shut off and wont turn on if the power switch is pressed and it will have to sit a few minutes befor turning on. The pc has been virus scaned, spyware scaned, clean disk, Defragment and scan disk. I am guessing its the power supply. I would greatly like some feedback on this. Thanks everyone :)
