itunes.. " The file ~itunes Library.itl~ cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes

Question

I really just want itunes back, i had a lot of problems with it... I downloaded it a while ago it worked fine...then all of a sudden it kept saying dont send so I downloaded it again... same thing and i downloaded quicktime too... this time I downloaded the older version which I like better anyways now it comes up :

" The file ~itunes Library.itl~ cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes"

Please someone tell me how to fix this, no guessing I can do that on my own aha...

Uninstall iTunes and Quicktime from "add remove programs". Go to apple.com and save the latest version to your desktop. Install it.

Oh yeah this happened to me - I just fixed it haha :) Just make sure that you don't have itunes open at this point but what i did was: ------------------------------------- Go to My Music > itunes *Then when you open the folder you should see the following or similar: itunes library itunes extras itunes genius *and then rename them all too: itunes old extras itunes old library itunes old genius ---------------------------- *then after you have done that go to "previous itunes libraries" and then cut the most recent "library" you have mine was "itunes library 2009-09-13" and then paste it where you have just renamed "itunes old extra,library & genius" then just rename the "itunes library 2009-09-12" to the following: itunes library ------------------------------ once youve done that close the window and open your itunes as normal and then hey presto everything should be there good luck :D

you know what, you can't download the older virsion of itunes, because, it won't work.....and then according to your problem, you downloaded the new version of itunes, first it was fine, then later on, it won't work well....so this is how you are going to do.....erase or delete all the files ar anything in your itunes library and also your itunes....then when there is no itunes anymore.....start download it again....be sure, there is no itunes existing in your files when you're going to downlaod again.....

So you dont want guesses, but im not sure I get you... the only thing that can fix it is 2 get the latest itunes available, thats the way i see it. but whatever, i HATE ipods, screw them...but i really hope u figure it out.

you downgraded somewhere. find the NEWEST version and install it.
