i have tried the website http://www.beryl-project.org/ but i could only see add on downloads and the like. i was just wondering if someone knew exactly where i can download it.

Beryl isn't a distribution of Linux, it's an add-on component. Get one of the main distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora or SuSE - you should then be able to install Beryl from there using the distribution's own package management system (eg Synaptic, RPM).

Depending on your Linux distro it should already be on your PC. Most recent distros should include it.

Try looking for it via Themes on the System Admin menu or the KDE desktop.
