my computer is broken. i turn it on and it says i can either :
start windows normally
log on from last safe date
safe mode

i tried all of them, but they all come up with a blue screen saying an error has occured.

what has happened? and what should i do about it?
i need that computer to work, otherwise i have to come here to the cafe everyday.

I scanned the picture, saved it as a jpeg and inserted it into my document. No matter how I try, the cursor will not sit on the correct position over the river and I end up with a line that goes all over the place. Please help me before I put my foot through the computer? How do I do this?

I'm looking to install linux on an intel 800mhz p2, 256 mb ram,20G HD. I'm not looking for a fancy desktop or games. All I'm interested in is a locked down secure webserver with at least mysql apache and php (lamp as I've heard it called).
Aside from being able to run on my current hardware my major concern is being hacked and having to reformat my box every two weeks. I plan on a dedicated webserver running one web page which total files will be around 5gb.
Any suggestions?

I have the screensaver "flowerbox" on and the background should be black BUT all of a sudden the background turned a light grey! Also, the desktop background got smaller.........I was able to fix that (mostly) but nothing I have done corrects the grey background! HELP!

Laptop dvd drive not working, reads no media (cd,dvd)- just whirs and stops. I thought it was laser maybe so was thinking it needs replacing. Then I hooked up an external drive and the same thing happens! Only the OS cd works in the external drive. Can anyone PLEASE tell me what to do, because not even the manufacturer knows- they tell me to uninstall the drive (NB it is visible in window!l windows from scratch. Surely there is another way? Help please !!!
