You press and hold a key as the computer boots up. Which key depends on the computer - usually delete, on some esacpe on some cheapo computers a function key like F1.

when you boot your system press the Delete key on the keyboard to load the BIOS setup screen (sometimes F2). the menu's vary between each BIOS but you should be able to navigate to where the audio setup is and disable the sound.

you can disable it within Windows but there can be conflicts when you install a new sound card. So it's better to do it through the BIOS.

Go into start menu, control panel, system, then click on hardware tab, then device manager. Click on sound/video and game controllers. It will display your sound card in there (For instance Realtek Audio). Right click then click on Disable... Hey Presto!!!!

There is specific place there to disable it, but easiest is just disable it within windows.
Just go to control panel, system - go to hardware and disable it.

somtimes you may have to remove a jumper from your motherboard sheck the motherboards manual

go to intergrated devices it should be in there or advanced settings
