I both use and recommend Linksys - WRT54GS.
Work great, easy setup, well documented, reliable, stable, and secure.

They cost about $70 retail in the US.

Depends what you mean by good or crap.
I tried the Netgear RangeMAX products in our house and they got no further than the cheap Belkin thing I was using.
So, i've changed to powerline and a router as non of the wireless kit reaches as far as it says.
The first answer is right in that CISCO sets "standards" for the industry....not for best in class or quality though, just standards for mass marketing. If people mean protocol definition standards then , no , CISCO didn't do that. Although because they set standards in marketing they would have you believe they set protocol standards.

I never had a problem with the G604T, only replaced it as I wanted to improve the speed of my wireless network.
Providing it's setup correctly there shouldn't be any issues at all - I'm guessing you have a problem or 2 with it. Anything I can elp you with?
