I cannot tell you why your computer is broken, it is the nature of electronic devices to break.
If none of those options you describe work, then either:
Your hard drive is broken, or,
The files are merely garbled, although it is not clear how that could have happened.
I am assuming you have WIndows XP. If you boot your WIndows CD, there is a repair option
(not the first one) that may help. Of course, if your hard drive is broke, you will have to replace it and reinstall everything.
Then again, you might consider taking to a repair shop.

Is your computer broken or infected with a virus? As far as losing the project, haven't your heard of backups? 1) You lost a computer project and are at another computer. So, re-do the project NOW. 2) Get a backup system. Ask the person who's fixing your computer. Shouldn't cost over $20-25. 3) Get over the limp dishrag act. You are not a peripheral, and the computer is not your girlfriend. If you really were that much of a nerd, you would know more about viruses. 4) Use Firefox interface, it's much more protected than Explorer. With Explorer, you can pick up tons of malware. Get your computer person to install adware, malbytes, and bit defender, all free versions, and have them show you how to use them. (Update before each scan, run adware, and if something won't remove, go to malbytes, and if something won't remove, well, bit defender should be set up to run itself, so at that point call your computer person. Also, check what sites you are visiting. Stuff to avoid: spam, ads, free software that YOU DIDN'T REQUEST. In fact, stuff you didn't request is the most suspect. Don't take their word for it that they're a respected company - anyone can lie. Contact the company yourself. And run adaware weekly, at least. I try to run it daily, when I am working on computer a lot, twice a week at other times. (Little stuff meets other little stuff and joins up, eventually gets to the malware stage, then the same thing occurs and it can get to the virus stage - IF you don't look out for yourself. If I open the wrong thing, I run ad aware as soon as I finish closing down what's active on the screen.

First of all do you have a DSL server , and Internet Windows Explorer 7 or 6.0 now ? And also it's possible you might have a bad video card , but you could also try unplugging your computer and waiting awhile before plugging it back in too . Do you have a CRT screen or flat screen now ?
Try these suggestions and I sure hope they'll help you . Possibly you need to check out your video driver settings or go to the Microsoft Web Site to check on a new video driver program too .Good Luck an I hope you get t back to normal soon .

Go download unetbootin, get a 4gb or larger flashdrive and in the program select ubuntu 12.10. Install it to the flashdrive and take it home and boot off the flashdrive. Your windows installation has somehow become corrupt. If ubuntu boots, it's more than likely a software issue, in which case the best thing to do is reinstall windows.

You need an install CD for whatever operating system you are using on that computer. Reinstall or repair the operating system and it will fix all of that blue screen stuff. Windows is known for the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). Get used to it?

Most probably it is an error related to the operating system (some important files missing or corrupted etc.)
I strongly suggest you should simply send it for a repair.
Or simply buy a new computer (make sure you buy one powered with multi core processor.)
End of story.

3 hit 1 to choos windows
4 type in admin password if none hit enter
