Computers & Internet - 5 October 2006

In my C Drive, the Favorites are listed in alphabetical order, but on my Internet Explorer pages, they are a random mess. Without having to drag and drop each one of the folders and/or URL ensignias, how can I put them in alphabetical order? There has to be some very basic and simplified way to accomplish this. I have a ton of them. Please tell me what to do.

have recently registered and logged in for I am a new member. I wanted to download a driver for my DVD-writer, but it doesn't seem to work. The type of driver is mentioned above in the topic descriptin (read: NEC ND-2500A[size=5]) and I DO reach the download-page which actually says:

Nec ND-2500A firmware 1.09a
Firmware / Nec OS: Win All
Downloads: 1,376
Date: August 15th, 2005 15:07

Then I click on the link and I'm given yet another page. Right now I can choose download (a small link to the right) which just totally throws me off-guard on another internet page that doesn't seem to mention my driver. Or I can click on "Add to download basket" but then I get to see what's inside my basket and there's nothing?

I keep getting viruses on my computer even though I have virus protection through Symantic. What am I doing wrong??

They are all in quarantine, so does that mean I don't have to worry about them?

my laptop is from 2003, outdated by todays standards thats for sure.. but it works fine with a couple of programs.. but if i put about 4 medium sized programs.. which isn't a lot, its limewire, fruity loops(an older version) a picture program, and the internet.. it crashes.. and then i have to use the os disk to get it running again.. is it the harddrive? what?? i do not care to get some different parts.. maybe more memory, or whatever else it might need. could it be a virus i once had.. i do download...?if so, what could get rid of it.. i have had some guys remove everything completely, install new drivers, and have been through this twice, and also have reinstalled windows from the os disk multiple(around 8) times over the past couple of years.. now i just use if for the internet and to download songs.. but i would like to at least have it hold 4 programs without crashing? and right now i cannot afford another laptop.. any suggestions??

I am about to purchase the following parts to completely upgrade my PC. I would like some advice on the components I have chosen. I dont want to spend this money and find out I have made a selection mistake.

P.S. Will all these components come with all the connections/cables/etc I will need to build the PC?

How can I figure out what kind of processor I have, and then once I figure that out, how do I know where my processor ranks.

My Sony VAIO PCG-GRZ610 always automaticlly shuts down, I have no idea what is going on?
I guess it could be RAM slots problem? so I replug the RAM slots, the problem still exist. I am assuming COMS battery need to be replaced, but I don't know from where to open? anyboby happens to konw, tell me please, BTW,are there other problems causing this? help!

ok heres the deal
I have 2 desktops and 1 laptop
desktopA is connected to a router via the ethernet cable
desktopB connected to the rotuer via usb adapter
and the laptop connected via built in network card
the printer is connected to desktopA
Now i tried to 'enable sharing' the printer from control panel-->printers
but i cant seem to get that printer working cia desktopB or the laptop
i mean i go to control panel>>printers and faxes>>add printer
and in there i choose the
A network printer or a printer attached to another computer
i go to browse for a printer
but i dont see the printer that i enabled
any help would be so appreciated

The drive is a Sony DRX-810UL DVD/CD rewritable drive which is connected to my computer by ILink firewire (6-pin to 4-pin.) It recognizes the device, but doesn't install. When I check it out in the device manager, it says that "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" I'm running Windows XP operating system on my IBM Thinkpad R52. I've tried updating the drivers, but the Windows updater couldn't find anything. Please help!

My hard drive crashed and refused to boot, so I got a new hard drive and put a fresh copy of Windows XP on it. Now, I can access the old hard drive fine through My Computer, but when I try and go into my Documents and Settings folder to get my files, it says Access Denied. I assume this is because I had a password lock on my account, but is there any way to get around this?

lately whenever I do a search on the yahoo search engine, the first three results are never the pages i am looking for.I keep getting redirected to some shady search results. I have to click on the original search results three times before i get the real thing (frustrating) I know this is some kind of trojan or whatever....help me get rid of this.

I do apologize for having to include this in my question, but because the programming section is usually plagued full of slackers, pranksters, embeciles, and just plain ignorant individuals that interfere with those of us that wish to use this sub-site as a learning tool, it must be included: Please READ the darn question before you answer it. Please give an INTELLIGENT answer, not Huh? wot? I dunno, etc. ... Please PAY attention Do not give me code for VB5 under WinNT, DJCPP, or GCC on Linux, when all you had to DO was READ the whole question to realize I do not want that particular information. Thank you all for letting me speak my piece. Now on to the rest of myt question. I can use code in VC6, Visual C++ 2005, and Visual C# 2005. Managed / .NET is acceptable as well. I can use code for any Win32 OS. However, I do NOT do VB6, VB.NET, .VBS, Linux or any code developed for a Non-Microsoft OS. Thanks for all the help.
