How can I figure out what kind of processor I have, and then once I figure that out, how do I know where my processor ranks.
Basically, when I go to buy games, I don't know what processor I have and can't tell if my comp can handle them or not.
Help me computer nerds!

So I did that stuff you nerds told me to do, and it looks like I have an AMD Turion 64 Mobile. That is if I am reading correctly, now how does this rank if I want to buy a game?

Right tic on "My Computer" and select properties. The next screen will tell you what type and speed of processor that you have. Another useful tool is to download "Belarc Advisor" that will analyze your system and provide you a means to make a hard copy of exactly what your system consists of. Including the elusive "Key Codes" for your copy of Win XP and any other programs that require a "Key Code".You have a 64-bit processor can't get better than that right now! All the games that are out now utilize 32-bit technology. They haven't quite caught up to the 64-bit yet. They will soon though. What kind of "rank" are you looking for?? An AMD processor is the preferred processor of gamers. Since this is a laptop, consider a laptop "cooler" of some type. The processor should be the least of your worries, I would be more concerned about my graphics card!

Most games will give you a list of processors on the box.
The thing about games, it takes more than processor speed to get them to work right. You need RAM, and video ram, and video processor speed.
Laptops don't make a good gaming system, because they are not very upgradable. In three or four months, the games will require faster video processing, and more ram, and eventually a faster processor.
Check out the link to AMD's web site, on your processor. That should help.

if you have Windows then search for "Windows XP Game Advisor" on the net, its a site run by microsoft, when you sign up it will upload your computers info and rank you in accordance to "normal" pc's. And the site has game trackers, search for your game on the site and it will tell you if you can play it or not, if not it will tell you whats wrong with your pc. If you have a Mac, cant help you.

The "nerd" way.
You will want to install a program to tell you what you have. When it comes to "discovery" software, it is hard to beat Everest : http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
It is not supported anymore, but I have not found one better.
