I just bought a new motherboard and and Intel Pentium 4 Processor. (They are both compatible) The processor is 1.6 GHz. I installed them into the case of a pretty old computer, and used that old computer's power supply and fan. I plugged all of the needed cables into the right sockets on the motherboard. (The old fan's cord couldn't reach the System Fan connector, so I plugged it into the Power Fan connector. Is that a big deal?) When I pressed the button on the front of the computer, nothing. I unplugged the powercord from the back, and I heard this high-pitched squealing that took about 20-30 seconds to completely stop. Would the old power supply be the reason for this? Thanks.

Ok.. my computer screen goes dark on its own. Ive tried a different monitor, ive tried a different outlet, ive tried a different surge, ive tried updating everything, ive tried EVERYTHING. And its still dimming on me. What it does exactly, is the contrast or brightness levels pop up, and automatically go down on their own, and once its down it rarely goes back up. Its not the monitor, becuz ive tried 2 so its obviously my hard drive SOMEWHERE. Any ideas? I have $ i can spend but i need to go the cheapest option possible. So anyyyyone with an idea, a clue, an anything.. PLEASE help me this has been going on for 2 months, and its driving me INSANE!

In Windows XP I've tried using Accessories, System Tools, Backup, and my CD drive (which is E). I keep receiving an error that states "The backup file name could not be used... E:\Backup.bkf.... Please be sure it is a valid path and that you have sufficient access. I'm using CD-R disks. Am I using the wrong disks? Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? (I don't have a floppy drive and I don't have a Windows disk - Windows was already installed on my computer.)

ive just downloaded this new windows live messenger, and its a lot different to my other msn that i had. ive noticed it has quite a few diff features too, but ive read a few things about it on the net, which are putting me off...

any one care to share their opinions/experiences about it? id rather people tell me themselves, rather than offer me a link to a site thanks.

i also cant seem to see others display pics in the main window, is this normal? and different ppls convo windows arnt seperate colours anymore? is this just a normal result of the new messenger?

why , when i have emptied everything frm my USB that it still says 416KB on disk when i dont even have anything onit.weird. any1 explain? i heard that u gotta empty trash and i did it and usually gets u some more space on it but dunno. any ideas and

I have a turion laptop but only 2 USB ports.

I want to have the freedom of moving the laptop around the house but do not want to have to carry the wires around. So I thought of buying a router and connecting all the devices to it.

But the routers advertised seem to have extra ethernet ports.

Is there any wireless router with extra USB ports?
