Go with a Wireless Router, such as LinkSys. Use an ethernet cable to your laptop to configure it the first time; then connect through the wireless. The Router would connect to your High Speed internet service.
If your computer does not have a PC Card slot, then YES, you can get a USB Wireless Adapter card. But you might want to try the PC Card Wireless adapter first.
A router connects to computers via Ethernet cables, not USB cables. Your high speed modem might come with BOTH, but use the Ethernet connection to the router. (You may have to turn your modem off to reconfigure it to work with your router)

first of all, i don't know why your laptop need an extra port, my laptop can detect the signal nearby and all i need is a password. since you have 2 usb ports. why don't you just get an adapter then you don't have to worry about wether there are extra usb ports on the router or not. i do it with my desktop, buy an adapter and install the CD and everything goes smooth except a little slow than connecting straight to the rounter.

buy a usb 2 card they are about £20 andthiswill give you six usb 2 ports or you can buy a usb adaptor that turns one into four best one i found i got from poundland but with this some things might not work correctly like a printer because it needs a direct port. The extra ethernet ports on router are so you can connect four pc with a cable as well as using wireless. The cable is much faster andmore reliable.

If you have a wireless card in your laptop and a wireless router, you don't need a USB port.
Routers have ethernet ports because that is how they connect.
A LAN/Ethernet card for a desktop PC is a lot cheaper that buying a USB to USB adapter.
There are also USB/Ethernet adapters available for your computer.
Then you just plug the USB into the computer and the Ethernet cable into your router.

A instantaneous router is an better kit that you connect together with your ISP's modem to enable it to connect wirelessly or separate the alerts for at about 4 better pcs. The impressive manufacturers that you'll evaluate will be linksys, netgear, dlink and belkin. you only prefer to purchase this and this will be a one time fee till you opt for to pay for it in installment. The router would broadcast the signal so as that your instantaneous card can stumble on the signal and receive files from them. it really is why you're starting to be linksys as a hotspot. it could be some different person with a linksys router devoid of safe practices enabled. If it really is restricted or no connectivity it probable signifies that you're linked to truly a kind of routers yet that router require a password. as long as your router has instantaneous skill and your instantaneous card can stumble on the instantaneous community broadcasted by skill of the router, i do not see any rationalization why it gained't connect.

First of all do you have a wireless card in your laptop, if not you can purchase one either online or any electronic store. Secondly, when setting up wireless internet you connect your internet modem to the router not the router to your laptop. The router will come with step-by-step directions of what to do. Next, you will set up your router and I would recommend putting a password on your router so your connection is not slowed by other users. Good Luck!

No not that I'm aware of. However, most DSL modems, or Cable modems, have Ethernet ports on them, to communicate with a wireless router.

There are wireless USB hubs. But they are not in Wireless routers with USB ports for anything other than printers that I've seen.
