Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>select Administrator>Change Password and make a new strong password. After making a new password approve it to block access to all your files and settings.

which version of windows are you running. Until xp that I know of the user password security of windows was a laugh, just hit cancel and go on. with xp, you can set a user and password and the pc is lock as long as you remember to log off the user or power down when you are finished. look at settings, control panel, user account.

If you don't want to have your roomate log at on, set the password up in BIOS. That way the password has to be given before it starts to boot up.
