Had a few pop-up messages lately,telling me I have been logged off because someone else is using my computer.Anyone know what's going on,please? Mine is the only comp'in the house and no one else is using it

I have a Dell laptop with a Sony DVD+-RW DW- Q58A. It reads and writes dvds, but it will not recognize cds or writes to them. There is no firmware update offered at the sony site or the dell. I've switched the primary and secondary IDE channels to DMA mode, no dice. I've also manually forced to drivers to a CD drive, still nothing. I'm pretty sure rmaing the drive is useless because I've searched forums and found that this drive has this problem. So, before I take that step, I would like to know if anyone has suggestions/answer to my problem.

just recently i was sent a request to add somone on to my contact list so i said yes by mistake i have sent request for contact details but got no reply could it be a virus of some kind?? contact name is ymsg.invisible......... i wont reveal any more details just incase i get in to trouble but it ends in the number 25 as the contacts name

I have tried to make a copy of a home dvd, and I have used several programmes but they all will not burn the damn thing. I have also ripped it to my HD and tried to burn from there and yet it is still not working. I have a dell dimension 5000, I dont know whether it is the DVD Burner itself or me!

Can anyone tell me a good place to find recent news related to Linux? I am writing a paper for school on future predictions of Linux and about whether Linux will become a serious competitor to Windows in the future. I am having problems researching this though it seems most of the information I am finding is a couple of years old and the language is aimed at someone who already knows a lot about Linux. A Notepad icon keeps appearing on my desktop talking about an unexpected exception that has been detected in native code outside the VM. It's followed by a list of files...

I searched it in Yahoo Answers and found someone with the exact same problem. (The list of files was the same and everything.) The people told her it was the West Coast Nile Virus and to call Microsoft. I keep Googling that and getting nothing.

Can some please explain what this virus is, what it does, or what I should do.

Hello... I purchased two laptops from the Dell Outlet today, both E1705 units with different features, one with more ram, dvd burner, one with better video (7900GS), etc. I basically intend to take the best pieces of each into my new laptop, and then ebay the other one. :) My question is, one has the T2300 processor (1.66GHz/667MHz FSB) and the other has the T2250 processor (1.73GHz/533MHz FSB). If all other things are equal, which will be faster, the one with more processor speed, or the one with the higher FSB speed?

Once we've established that, one other question.. I notice both laptops only have 533mhz ram, so assuming I don't buy faster ram, am I correct in thinking FSB won't matter and I'd be better off with the slightly faster CPU? :)

Is it possible to get your self connected to the Internet with a something similar to a program for example the router is now a program on your computer but still has the same effect as a normal router. But not get connected trough the phone line or satilite.
