it lets me go on the computer for a little while then without a warning these lines appear on the screen and i cant dont anything to it and i have to hold the pwr button to turn off and restart i dont whats causing this i have only had my computer for 1 month and its under warranty i think it can me the video card any help???

Can anybody tell me what I can do to stop my computer from hesitating.Example...when I play a video the video pauses and then returns.The sound doesn't skip though.When I play drawing games it will pause in mid draw then continue.I have defragmented and have done clean ups,but the problem continues.Plz talk to me like I am a two year old for I am very computer illiterate.Be very specific.Thank you in advance.
