Why is it the fact that certain people's questions are being taken off and other's that have nothing to do with the topic being allowed to remain. I think they are either being byass or they are falling asleep at the wheel. Someone needs to wake up and really start to pay attention. It is sad people who help people are being taken out while the people who say things like rock or roll on a computer help sight continue to remain. Or how about this question. Has anyone gotten 5 million dollars from Nigeria. Remains It is my just a thought but someone needs to open their eyes and start paying more attention to their jobs.

New Presario which has burned in somewhere that IE will only use ie.redirect.hp.com as its homepage...The menu under Tools on IE will not do the job...Most of the registry keys I have looked for do not exist, and the ones setting "StartPage" to this URL will not allow me to modify them...Even though the permissions on these keys say that they can be modified...

Now that we have established that I DO know a little about what I am doing, please do not simply tell me to use a different browser...Others may be better, but I want to beat these @#$*(s and change what I have to what I want it to be...

I have Windows XP Professional. My computer had a virus in April of this year. Luckily, that was taken care of, but now everytime I turn on the computer a blue screen pops up. The blue screen said Chkdsk. It said that the computer was checking a disk for any problems. I have a chance to press any key on the keyboard to stop it, and I did let it check it. A lot of things work fine on my computer, but when I try to Defragment something it says: "Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: C:
Please run Chkdsk /f." So i go to the command prompt, and type in chkdsk /f, and it says: "THE TYPE OF FILE SYSTEM IS NTFS. CANNOT LOCK CURRENT DRIVE. CHKDSK CANNOT RUN BECAUSE THE VOLUME IS IN USE BY ANOTHER PROCESS. WOULD YOU LIKE THIS VOLUME TO BE CHECK THE NEXT TIME THE SYSTEM RESTARTS?" I do not have by the way, a Microsoft XP CD. Please, help me with this. I am looking for the best answer ever, step by step! PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO GO TO A COMPUTER WORKSHO

Is it worth renewing my McAfee Security suite every year or is what I have now enough? Or are dangers to your computer changing so quickly that it is wise to keep renewing so you can get the latest versions and updates, or is this just a way to keep you renewing?

It comes up at the bottom of the screen in orange and pings. Then a banner comes across the screen telling me Outlook is running and I need to close windows. I'm stuck. The help desk talk in jargon and so I am no nearer to solving this infuriating problem.
