You need the driver CD for the HP onboard video. Get them at www.hp.com

Hope you did not delete the first partition. Depending how old the machines are and what model, HP had a restore partition allocated before the C: drive, but you cant see it unless you went to computer management-->Disk Management-, there you will see the hidden partition. So actually the C: drive is not main partition. So when you go to do a restore, you would boot off the hidden partition in DOS mode,since NTFS wont work in that mode. Also HP set it in their boot block Bios to find this partition to boot, and if it is missing it will hang at the screen you mentioned. get some restore cds specific to that model or maybe ghost a hd from an exact model. good luck.

In your case, im assuming you have the intel video card, they seem to do that alot. Install chipset drivers then video drivers, in that order, but after you uninstall the drivers you installed first, if you did install any, reboot.

You lost the drivers for your video card probably. Go to start>run and than type dxdiag. Go to video and than see what your video card brand and model are. If you look them up online you should be able to download the drivers.
