127.0.0.1 ,technically called loop back IP , is actually the IP of the nic card on the computer.if u ping the loop back IP and get replies , your card is fine.
usually in networking , we will be able to access other IP address ,as they will be associated with a comp or server or some device with an interface.but 127.0.0.1, the IP of your nic , takes u to the comp itslef, which is the home !!
So, there's no place like 127.0.0.1 !!

First time I heard "there's no place like 127.0.0.1" but this is obvious, (unlaughable) tech geek humour, because 127.0.0.1 refers to the machine you are currently using; it is a special IP address referring to what I just.said. Whoever can tell rightaway what 127.0.0.1 can tell localhost.

It's just a bit of geek humor.
127.0.0.1 is a special IP address that loops back to your own computer. So, “There's no place like 127.0.0.1” means “There's no place like home”.

If you try to connect to that IP address then it connects you back to your own computer. (I'm sure that someone can explain it way more technically!)
So the joke is that 127.0.0.1 connects you to 'home' and the famous phrase 'There's no place like home' comes from The Wizard of Oz.
