Computers & Internet - 10 August 2006

I have had absolutely ZERO experience designing websites. I have had an amazing idea for a website and would prefer to build it myself. Am I being unrealistic as it would be better for me to have it up and running as soon as possible? Should I get an experienced web designer to help me? How easy is web design? Where should I start?

I know it should be one question at a time but you can pick and choose which one you answer.

My father in laws PC is causing a problem at the moment. He was happily on dial up and when he upgraded to Broadband the problems started. The line has been checked, there was a problem but has now be rectivifed. However the problem is whenever the internet is connected or we try and get emails from outlook express, within one minute the computer shuts down and restarts. This was not happening with dial up only since tiscali broadband was installed. We have uninstalled it and started again with the whole process but still the same problem. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

I have broadband access and would like to hook up my Win XP computer rinning Windows IIS so that I can have an FTP site that anyone with the user name & password that I specify can access it. I don't want any third party packages, I want to use IIS. Is this possible?

Hi i have a problem with my computer. i watch movies from the internet by downloading them form the site. and there a movie i like to watch and after downloading it , i save it . after that when i am ready to see the movie , when i open up it goes away suddenly a blue screen comes up for like 5 seconds with like error code and it automatically restarts itself. i don't know what is the problem but i have seen lotz of other movie like this before. the only problem is that i can't see that movie. but i could see other movies like that. only that one when i open it , a blue screen comes with like error code and stuff and restart it self.so i thought of seeing tha movie from the library. i download it and open itand then i could see hte movie at the library in the computer.but i can't view it on my computer. the problem is a blue screen comes up and restart itself. but i could view other movies like this. but only this one i can't view. people who have similar problems like this please help

I have always been a PC user only used a mac once or twice but i really like the iMac. I am starting college in one month and i am doing AS Computing so would it be worth sticking to a PC. I am also an iPod user so i know that Apple are reliable.

i am trying to hook up an ethernet cord to an old '98 Compaq but whenever i open IE, the browser always tries to connect throgh dial-up. how do i change the setting so that IE connects to the network using the ethernet cable and is this even possible? contact me if u can help.

www.personalcreditservices.com is a scam! I read their article about them helping you find a personal loan regardless of your credit! All you needed to do was pay their referral fee and they would send your information to lenders and you can get the money you ask for in about 2 days! The higher the amount you wanted the higher the fee. I paid $175 for $10, 000 and found out YOU have to call at least 4 lenders and if they all deny you you have to send in the denial letter to them and you will get a prorated refund! I have went to BBB and filed a complaint and am fixing to go to Channel 9 on this company. They have really mislead everyone. BBB has even bad reports on this company that I failed to check before buying their fee!!!! Anyone with advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

im using the new yahoo email beta, and when ever i click on an email, i keep getting asked for my password, so my session ends for no reason, it happens every few seconds. this has never happened before, could this be an email bug? what gives? anyone else experiencing this?
