means you have the same ip as someone else on the network, either change it manually thourhg control panel-> network connections-> Tcp/IP Properties or if its a controlled network, ie: work, you'll have to goto your techies to set you a new ip.

This can happen for many reasons - but I'll tell you how to fix it. If you have multiple computers behind a firewall, router, cable modem, or dsl modem - then you need to set all your computers to use dynamic IP addresses (or DHCP). This will prevent IP address conflicts on your network. For windows, open Start / Control Panel / Network Connections. Double click on your network connection. Click Properties Scroll down to "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and double click on it. Make sure both options are "Obtain address automatically" Click OK out of all your windows. Go do that on all PCs on your network. You'll never get that alert again, because the PCs will make sure they aren't using the same IP address. *If you have wireless, you need to make sure you're using WEP or WPA encryption so nobody else in your area can use your network - someone else out there could be causing this problem.

By default all the machine connected in a network/Internet have a unique IP. Sometimes it is assigned mannualy by a Network admin or it is assigned to Computer dynamically from a DHCP server when the computer boots up. An IP conflict means someone tried to give an IP manually which is already used by another computer or the DHCP server (either a computer server or a Router) tried to assign an IP which was already assigned. If the IP in your network is assigned manually, contact your admin. If its DHCP restart your machine or type 'ipconfig /release' (to release the current IP and then 'ipconfig /renew' (to get a new IP) in a command prompt.

I means you have two computers on your nework with the same iP address.
Go to each computer and click the start button
Select Run
type in: command
In the Window that appears type in: ipconfig
You will see four lines of IP information, the second line is the IP address (something like 192.168.0.100)
Record the address
Check each PC until you find the two with the same address
Go to each and type: ipconfig /release
Then go to each and type: ipconfig /renew
Both machines should "renew" there IP addresses
Do an ipconfig to confirm that they are both different

Means that the IP assigned to the computer is already in use. You can try using a different IP. although I think is better to let your router or server to decide the IP address

Yuo have two machines with the same address.
This can happen if you assign fixed ip addresses to one or more machines and let others automatically pick up an address from the router (dhcp).
Normally, dhcp-allocated addresses start at low numbers and go up, so if you are running a server, set it to a very high address.
