I have broadband access and would like to hook up my Win XP computer rinning Windows IIS so that I can have an FTP site that anyone with the user name & password that I specify can access it. I don't want any third party packages, I want to use IIS. Is this possible?

Yes, make sure you have installed FTP also with IIS. Else click control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Windows Components - Internet Information service - then click the Details button and select 'File Transfer Protocol '. This will require XP CD.

After finishing the installation check Internet service Manager. You will see the FTP site. You can create Virtual directory same as IIS. You can create user and a virtual directory in the same name of the user. Then that user will get access to that folder only.

Check from your neibhourhood machine. Sometimes you may need to open the port 80 in your firewall to access the IIS from outside, which will be blocked by default.
