I'm about to buy a 2001 GSX-R 1000 and when i went to look at the bike, the code F1 came up on screen...also the oil/temperature light was on... he said that it was because the bike wasnt warmed up enough and when the temp reached normal it shuts off....by the end i forgot to check if it was off...my question is...was he telling the truth or is there a bigger problem with the bike...
thank you

I wrecked the phillips screw head on the darn screw that holds the wire for the stator. I need to get this screw out. If I took it to the local Yamaha dealer service dept, do you think they could get the screw out without stripping the threads in the engine cover? Or am I scr-wed?

It is very difficult to get across to motorcyclists that their agresive driving manner is the main cause of accidents involving them. It is a well known fact that whereas 80% of car drivers are what you would call good drivers and 20% poor, with motorcyclists the reverse is true, 80% are poor and at best 20% good. How can the 80% be taught to dive as if there are others on the road, buying a high performance bike gives the owner no priveleges regarding speed etc? They seem to be determined to ride into oblivion then blame car drivers. I used to ride a bike, (a Honda 90) but it was so boring, uncomfortable and noisy. Come on you bikers, try to improve and live a little longer, not to mention the number of cars which will be undamaged!

Lets say the front tire. If it blows is ther absolutely no way of staying up? How much does it depend upon your speed? I've ridden in the country for two years, but then moved to L.A., and now am thinking about riding on the freeway. Will a blowout kill you?

My thumb gets very tired while racing and after 3 or 4 laps around the MX track, I can barely move my thumb. I've tried a thumb throttle extender, and excersizing my thumb with a hand gripper thing, all without much success. Is there something I can do to my throttle, cable, carb, etc. to make that throttle push easier? I'm not crazy about going to a twist throttle either. Thanks.

I think my forks have gotten twisted slightly in the clamps, I've been trying to fix it by loosening the lower clamp, holding the wheel, and pushing the handlebars. What is happening is that I can make the bike pull left instead of right, but I'm having trouble aligning it so the wheel is completely straight between the forks.

Is there anyway that I can measure that the forks and clamps are aligned properly? I tried rigging up two pieces of string at the top and bottom of the forks, but the stock suzuki damper was messing up my line of site. Any ideas? Unfortunately I don't have a front stand

I own a '78 GS550 that will start and run, but the center two cylinders are not firing. (exhaust pipes stay cool) Plugs have spark, there is gas in each carb. Is synchronization the cure?
Thanks.

I have a 98 Kawasaki KX 250. The motor has been dropped and and all I have to do now is crack the case to replace what I believe is the main bearing. Tips?

I replaced the coils/wires on my well running CB350 because of decay and cracking.

After I got everything hooked back up correctly, it started up easily but now the left side feels significantly weaker at the muffler vs. the right side.

Around 4-5k RPM's the bike starts to backfire and struggle to go. I pulled the spark plugs and they seemed fine - not white lean or soaked rich - a middle like brown color.

Could this be a points problem?

I recently bought a 1992 Suzuki GSX600F Katana sport bike as my first bike, and I was wondering what type of chain lube I should use on it? I've asked a couple people and have heard completely different answers, so I was wondering what you guys think. Some people told me any chain lube is fine, others told me to just use 20w50 motor oil (??).
