I have this same problem where i live technically the police should arrest the kids for no licence insurance or tax. But it doesn't happen. I called the police one night as the kids were racing up and down my street at 12-00 at night and was told they won t come out as the kids will probably be gone by the time the police arrived.

If someone was knocked over it would depend on if the people were actually caught as the bikes rarely have number plates on so no way of tracing the owners.

This is the best one most police officers won t chase them if they have no helmet on in case the person on the bike gets hurt, what a joke they can endanger pedestrian lives as long as they don t get hurt

The reason these bikes don't have number plates, is because it is illegal to ride them on the road. They must only be ridden on private land - by law.

There is a bill going through parliament at the moment to have mini-motos made illegal in the U.K. Many police forces are already confiscating and crushing the bikes they catch.

Unfortunately, they can't do the same with the riders...

Some areas do have a blitz on them occasionally, but don't hold your breath. Just hope they have the big off! The Parliamentary bill should ban them if people follow the law, some hope! It also will cause difficulties for motorcycle sport enthusiasts as it calls for all bikes to be registered, and off-road and race machines won't meet the regulations

I have not come accross an actual case yet BUT as the minimotors are a 'motor vehicle' and they are being driven on a road, then I would assume that the Motor Insurance Bureau would deal with claims for injury or damage under their untraced drivers agreement or uninsured drivers agreement.

The MIB is funded by insurance companies i.e. by part of the premiums law abiding citizens pay.

these kids are a pain in the ****, If the police will do nothing try boobytraps for these little gits, we have the same problems here and some of the neighbours here tend to call the police and if nothing happens they disrupt them by pulling out or blocking footpaths etc..
Goodluck with whatever you do..
But the bikes should be taxed and insured
