I spoke with my auto insurance agent this morning (at American Family). She said the following:

1. Full coverage insurance on an everyday 2004 (500cc) Honda Motorcycle would run me about $130/year.

2. I can't get any kind of coverage on a sport bike until I've had my motorcycle license for 10 years; and even if I did, it would cost me $1,000/year.

Please tell me everything you know about motorcycle insurance. Do I even need it? I want to buy a used sport bike (600cc or less) and spend around $3k for it. If something happens, it's not like I'm wrecking a $20k new car or even my primary transportation - and the cost to fix it wouldn't be that bad. Even if it was, at $1,000/year for insurance, I might as well just take my chances, right?

I am 14 years old and 110 pounds and i have $2500 for a brand new Yamaha ttr125e bike. It costs $700 less than the honda 125cc bike and weighs 25 lbs less. Is this a good bike or should i invest $700 more for a 125cc honda. What do you guys think about this bike, and is it worth the money. I also want it brand new because my dad has had bad experiences with buying used bikes.

.. they're really obnoxious - especially when some poser weekend warrior decides to rumble down a residential street - setting off car alarms, scaring children and dogs, pissing off otherwise easy going neighbours..

.. is their a happy medium?

- what do serious bikers think of over-the-top loud bikes?

What do you think of your "Bro's" who deliberately go out of their way to cause Harley owners to despise the riders of foreign bikes?

they fuel up the engine a few times. Is this necessary? Will the engine die if they don't do that? Or they just want to attract attention?

I have an arctic cat dvx 250. The other day I was riding down a steep slope with loose gravel, and I lost control of the dvx because it was sliding, so I jumped off. Afterwards, the dvx flipped twice and the steering stem bent. I have been looking everywhere on the internet for the part, but found nothing. So, my question is: is there another ATV whose steering stem is compatible with the dvx's?

I ran into some problems a year ago and have bad credit. I am now working to fix it and can now afford the payments for a new bike. Anyone know where I can get a legit loan to buy one with my past credit problems. Thanks in advance for the help.

The only difference i am aware of from 1999 to 2000 is that they went from a 20mm axle to a 25mm axle I just want to know if they only changed the inside diameter of the bearings and spacers or if they also changed the outside.

Yesterday I read ANOTHER newspaper article about a crash in th UK, two motorcyclists dead, 25 yr old car driver arrested for dangerous driving..etc etc...
I really want to start biking, it's not something on a 'whim' I've wanted a bike since I was 15, (35 now)..
What scares me is the accidents I hear about CONSTANTLY, I have a young family, would I be being , I dunno, 'reckless' by following my dream of biking?
I don''t want anyone having a go because I would be a 'beginner', I just want some thoughts from experienced bikers.
Would YOU do it all again, given the chance?

My regular pillion has very little natural padding and is constantly complaining of a sore bottom after about an hour's riding. What can I get/use to solve this problem? Apart from this we have a really enjoyable time travelling around two-up!

Just because Japanese bikes are better built, more reliable, faster, quieter, and better in every way, I see no need to insult out of jealousy.

I am not a rider. It is just common knowledge.

I'm looking for a road legal dirtbike. Preferably one that I could ride (female, 5'5" 120lbs) easily and that isn't too expensive. I already know how to ride trails.

I like Hondas. Yamaha's are OK too.

Any suggestions?

My husband's friend got into a motorcycle accident tonight and his foot was completly torn apart. He went into surgery to have his leg removed. Before he went into surgery, he told my husband he'd be willing to let him take over the payments on the bike (a brand new Yamaha R1 - not the same back he was riding during the accident) My husband said he'd talk to me, but basically agreed to it. He's had bikes before and is a careful rider. Three years and not a single accident. He never does stunts or anything like that (his friend was popping a wheely when it happened)
Should I let him take advantage of an unfortunate situation that would replace his old bike (a car hit and ran it in a parking lot) and would also help out his buddy who can no longer ride or should I say NO WAY JOSE! Remember, he's an established 27 yr old rider whos been riding for years.
I'm asking your opinion because right now I'm a little freaked out from what happened to his friend and need outside advice. Thanks

Hello, people. I just went through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's (MSF, www.riderite.net) safety course, and...very few people know about it, especially those that are not living with me. I have not discussed anything with the people that I live with because they are really against motorcycle riding. For my first bike, I would like to purchase a Suzuki SV650, which is a hugely popular standard bike, and was recommended as a first bike(http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products/SV650K7/Default.aspx). Anyway, I just wanted to know how to break the ice. I've told one person in the household already, and I don't think he's going to let anyone else know. It's not so much that I'm not responsible, but the people around me don't want me on one. I do want one though, already got an M1/M2 license coming in. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Take care, and, as the Harley moto goes, "Live to ride. Ride to live."
