I am 14 years old and 110 pounds and i have $2500 for a brand new Yamaha ttr125e bike. It costs $700 less than the honda 125cc bike and weighs 25 lbs less. Is this a good bike or should i invest $700 more for a 125cc honda. What do you guys think about this bike, and is it worth the money. I also want it brand new because my dad has had bad experiences with buying used bikes.

The TT-R125E is a great bike for a person your age. I think the Honda you are comparing it to is the CRF150F instead of a 125. The Honda 150 is almost $700 more and actually weighs 38 pounds more than the Yamaha. The extra 25cc the Honda has will be offset by its weight so that is a wash. The CRF150R would be an awesome bike but it is $4000. You probably already know that the TT-R125 comes in 3 different models. The 125E is the electric start with a 14" rear wheel, the 125L has a 16" rear wheel but no electric start and the 125LE is 16" wheel with electric start. Get the TT-R125 and ride it a couple years to gain some experience and then move up to a 250F MX or woods bike. It sounds like you have done your homework, so get your new Yammie and have fun dude!!!

The TTR is a great bike. Nice power, decent suspension, electric start. Very fun and forgiving - plus bullet-proof reliable. All for a decent price.

I tend to agree with your dad, prices on new models are so good right now that it's sometimes not worth taking a chance on used if you can afford new.

Honda doesn't make a 125 four stroke, they have the CRF150F (in your budget and skill level) and the CRF150R (out of budget and skill range). The CRF150F is a heavier bike, but does have more power, and larger riders seem to like it better.

I can't say that the CRF is worth $700 more, unless you're really tall and the TTR just feels too small.

Either bike is an excellent choice. Just don't forget to budget some funds for a good helmet, boots, gloves, etc!

If you can handle the bike, and ride it responsibly, then by all means get the TT-R125E. But make sure that you do feel confortable on it before you spend $2500 on it. Shop around, but I think that you will be happy with the TT-R
