With all the different types of motor oil I don't know how people keep track, is there a good souce of information on which ones to use on which types of engines in which weathers?

I recently bought a 1987 Z28 Camaro, its a 305ci 4bbl with over 100k miles. I live in Florida, so cold starting is not an issue to consern with, but gas milage and optimal engine operating are. Does the high humidity factor in anywhere?

You see the 10W-40 and 20W-50 a lot, but I also see some with only SAE 30 with no W/ indication, what factor does bit of information play? Thanks...

I have a Mark VIII and every so often the whole car shakes and makes a sound like you are going over the bumps on the side of the highway. It seems like its mostly when I'm accelerating, but it only happens sometimes...what could be the problem?

I want to know should I just get the spark plugs changed or could it be timing, egr valve, oxygen sensor. Anyone with experience or knowledge let me know. The oil is fine and the coolant is clean ( not a blown head gasket ).

I have to let the car warm up due to the fact that I have an underlying problem with the TPS, mechanic has by passed this for the moment until I have the cash flow to fix it properly. But when I started it, it did the chuggalug thing and then quit , It was a cold night & the day before I put gas in. I haven't been able to do anything with it for a couple of days cause I had to work & then today I put some gas line anti freeze/ water evaporator in it and let it run for about 5 mins, it only chugged once and then started running fine but I went to the tail pipe so that I could see the exhaust and smell it (not that I am into huffin fumes lol), I couldnt smell anything but normal fumes and the fumes looked fine for a cold day but I noticed looking at the tail pipes that it was dripping water every second and the pipe that goes into the muffler was also dripping (yes I need new muffler also) But is this water in the tank? I have never had this happen befor.

I bought my '96 for $600.00 about 4 months ago. I thought it was a good deal at the time, but while driving it home it overheated on the highway and the bearings in the bottom end got cooked(of course I had listened to it for aprox. 20 min. and it ran perfect, I attempted to do a roadside repair only to find the thermostat was seized shut). To make a long story short the damn thing cost me an additional $1100.00 in engine repairs to get road worthy again (just glad the rest was in decent shape and I didn't have to put any cash into breaks, exhaust, ect.).The original engine had metal shvings in the bottom of the oil pan, and the first engine I went to install(with less than 140,00 km's)was the same, so the place I purchased the replacement engine sent me another. Everything seems to be O.K. But does anyone think I may have a justifiable concern about the durability of the Ford 3.8's? (I realize that the early versions were prone to head gasket failure until a design change 1996)

I have a '65 Mustang (for over 15 years) that is driven occassionally when necessary. When it comes time for yearly inspection I get a free ride from the emmisions test that most other cars are subjected to. Can a catalytic converter be installed or is there something about it that affects the overall operability of older car engines.

The shop I took my car to installed the dimpled/slotted rotors so that they point forward, instead of backwards. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to point to the rear of the car. Will this hurt heat dispersion? The brakes work, I'm just wondering if they're not working as efficiently as possible.

For example, When I am sitting idle in a drive thru for more than two minutes the gage will climb ALL the way up to H and a minute or two later I can hear a fan go on, and the gage will slowly come down, but not all the way back to normal. When I start driving again it will go back to normal. I drive a 1999 mitsubishi eclipse. I warm up my car in the morning for a good 15 minutes and I do not have a problem. I'm looking for a second opinion. I brought it to a mechanic and they found no indicators of why it happens after they hooked it up to their machine. I get oil changes at penzoil where they change additional fluids on a regular basis. This has been going on for the past year plus.

My questions are:
1. Is this REALLY a problem?
2. Will anything eventually happen to my car if it is just left as is?
3. When I am idle, does changing gears to neutral or park when the gage reaches H help, worsen, or have no effect?

I saw on an RAC advert that you could rub something over the wipers and it would ensure a clear screen when using them. Can any body remeber this advert and could you confirm that it is vinegar i use. (Yes i am cheap and buying some new ones is not an option!)

is drained. I tried to jump it but it only made a clicking sound when I turned the key. I dont think there is anything wrong with the actual battery, is this the alternator? Its been sitting for about 2 and a half months. Its a ford ranger, and I tried jumping with a ford escort? Do i just need a bigger vehicle to jump it with?
