While I'm sitting still for a few seconds it feels like it's shaking, jerking then it'll shut off. When I crank it back up it takes off really slow. What do you think is wrong?

Don't know from your question what kind of car you have. What you describe can be caused by an Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve that is hung open. That would cause the engine to flood out with air when you are at a stop and cause the shaking and stalling. It would also cause the slow acceleration until you get the engine speed up to over 2000 rpm.

a low idle speed could also cause it but that doesn't usually cause slow acceleration; a low idle will cause the stalling and rough shifts but not slow acceleration.

sounds like the exhaust gas recirculation valve could be the cause of the problem. It could also be a myriad of other things including ignition system components and tune up items.

Obviously stalling is not a good thing. the best advise is to take it to a shop for diagnosis as soon as you can.

hope that helps

examine the battery connections. have to procure ability on your upload-ons, on your starter?. you additionally can pass slowly below and spot if the wires that visit the gasoline pump, witch is frequently placed interior the gasoline tank on the rear and below edge of your vehicle, have been broken. examine for ability on the tip of those wires till now they connect on your pump. Older vehicles had mechanical gasoline pumps on the engine that stopped while the engine stopped, yet i'm enormously confident that may not the case with yours.

Timing could be off
Carbuerator could need cleaning
Air filter is dirty
Fuel injector is dirty(if you have one)
Didn't let it warm up enough if it's old and it's cold out(that's why mine does the same thing)
