Calipers usually last quiet sometime. Unless something seriously goes wrong with them. I have a 95 Jetta and still have the originals

Thus far my winter beater 93 Ford Taurus with 142,000 miles has the original calipers. There's a secret it make them live longer. Every five years or so have the brake system fluid changed by pressure system bleeding one caliper at a time. Any automotive shop has this equipment. Brake fluid loves water and aluminum calipers, brake lines and wheel cylinders hate it.
Every year you run your car brake fluid gets contaminated with atmospheric pressure which contains water. If the rubber dust boots around the caliper pistons and seals inside wheel cylinders are in good shape calipers should outlive your car.

calipers will last the life of the vehicle if they are serviced properly when brake jobs are performed and as long as you replace the brake fluid at regular intervals (2 yrs).
