I saw on an RAC advert that you could rub something over the wipers and it would ensure a clear screen when using them. Can any body remeber this advert and could you confirm that it is vinegar i use. (Yes i am cheap and buying some new ones is not an option!)

The RAC advert recommended wiping your wiper blades with vinegar. If you are on a budget, try Wilkinsons they sell new blades for most cars for £1.25 each. I bought some last year for a Rover 25 and they were fine.

Wiper blades ought to get replaced in keeping with annum, and if all your driving is on the city environments the place pollution is greater then maybe two times a three hundred and sixty 5 days. sparkling the demonstrate screen with Mr Muscle window cleanser and wipe all the crap off the rubbers on the blades with kitchen roll soaked in Mr Muscle. If that doesn't treatment it then get new blades, and save your demonstrate screen sparkling, and the wiper blade rubbers as nicely. in case you employ a wash-and-wax answer to bathe your motor vehicle then which will build-up on the demonstrate screen and blades and convey issues such as you describe. try utilising Decosol Windscreen washer additive on your demonstrate screen wash bottle. that is an remarkable product, much greater suitable than all the different ingredients. blend it at 33% potential for wintry climate use.

Cheap wiper blades= scratched windscreen! How many cars do you see with 4 big 'haze' lines over each wiper sweep!
Buy decent blades, clean them regularly and they will last longer.Everytime you wash your car simply wipe the blade clean.
I replace 3/4 screens a week (Mot fails) purely on scratches alone! Laminated screens scratch more easily!

If you cannot afford to change the wiper blades then stop driving your old banger! Do you even have an MOT?

Kinda off topic but I know that using a fine grit sandpaper on your wiper blades will also remove buildup making them more effective and longer lasting.

Buy some new wipers, ya cheapskate! You could end up causing/having an accident if you can't see where you are going.

You can get just the wiper blades (rubber strips) for very little!

White vinegar - not the vinegar you put on your fish & chips!- is good for removing 'grease' from wind-screen
