Are you using a seperate charger? My smart charger turns itself off. If you are talking about just like when driving, you don't have to worry. As long as you make few long trips (over 10 miles) from time to time it will top off.

As for the condensation on the vent cap - what vent cap?

Good Luck.

The best way to check a battery for for it's state of charge is with a simple volt meter. Set it @ 20 volts and place the red lead to the positive terminal and black wire and alligator clip to the negative post. A fully charged battery will test @ 12.85 volts. As any battery gets older it's no longer capable of holding the maximum charge. Anything over 12.5 volts is pretty darn solid.

If you don't have an automatic leveling charger now is the time to get one. As the battery charges the charger reduces the output amperage so you won't ruin or boil dry your battery.

A long slow low 2 amperage setting is best.

when you are charging the battery, the fluid inside bubbles, and like bubbling water, it makes little splashes.. that is normal to see near the vent caps.. you should have a timer for your charger.. did you not set it? Try for 30 - 60 minutes, and then it should be good enough to start your car. While in the car, the alternator will charge it, and the voltage regulator will keep it from getting overcharged.

Measure it with a meter or take a sample of electrolyte and the specific gravity reading will tell you the charge it is currently at
