Hi
I have a 1996 renault clio 1.4. It has been sat on my drive in the rain and the cold for nearly 2 years
It seems to be in ok condition but has no tax or MOT.
Now i want to shift it- I first want to see if it's salvageable/saleable. I'm aware that i will need to replace the battery, but do i need to do anything else before turning it over - eg should i change the oil first?

I need also to release the brakes before getting it to a garage for an MOT check. would it be legal for me to drive the car the 1 mile to the garage given that it's uninsured and untaxed?
I don't want to spend money on these douments if the car is fit for scrap only!!

thanks for your help.

I just recentley changed a door on a focus and swapped everything from the old door to the new one. After i had finished the central locking would lock then instantly unlock both doors (3 door), then after a few hours they would lock but it only took 1 press instead of 2, then they went back to unlocking themselves! I disconnected the harness on the driverside and the passenger door locks by using the remote. The driver door doesnt lock even with the key so im thinking it could be both mechanical and electrical as water could have got into the motor or harness and the actual lock seems to be jammed. anybody who could help would be doing me a big favour!

Anytime it is cold or wet on of the belts squeel loudly, until the car warms up. Took it to have the belts checked and was told they were fine. Also Hyandai said it was normal, but it squeels so loud it wakes the neighbors. Any ideas?

someone said they would do it all for me for 30 pounds is that ok? I had my car serviced towards end of december from the same person/company and wipers werent changed at time but i can see that they jam when i try to use them now, so i have to put them on constant use if i want too use them in the rain.
I know these are minor things people can do themselves but i just cant as im a girl off 21.

There is a tear in my drivers side window at the bottom where the plastic is covered by the fabric, but the fabric is coming lose and the tear is starting to show and open itself to elements. Also, this window zipper only closes and opens one way, going the other way the teeth will not connect, any ideas? Also, there is a larger 4-5 inch tear in my rear plastic window right under where the zipper releases the plastic from the fabric. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When I am drving my car and I turn a corner my car will make a clicking noise. It almost sounds like something is catching under my car. It does not happen every time I turn and it seems to happen more when I am taking a left turn than a right turn. It will click louder and more rapidly if I take the turn fast or if I accelerate though the turn. I took it to the shop and they replaced the outer sway bars, the clicking is not as frequant and not as loud but it is still there. I took it back to the shop and then said thay can't hear anything! I was completly shocked, I went and drove my car with them in it and is did not click, then as soon as I took is off the lot it is clicking again! They even said they put my car on the lift, everything looks good, my axel, my inner sway bars, and nothing is even loose. I have no clue what is wrong, does anyone have any suggestion or any advice? Thanks a lot for any help!
