Actually that doesn't sound that out of average. There may be a few things you can do to help it though. Keep your engine tuned, and your tire pressure full.

What size engine do you have in it 4.6L or 5.4L V8? WHat is your usual cruising speed?
It seems a little off if you are going at a steady 60-70mph with not much traffic and you should avg. around 14 to 16mpg highway with these vehicles. However, it is winter season and they have the winter blend fuel out which will drop your MPG 1 or 2 because of the extra sulfer content.
Also, you should check your tire pressures to ensure they are the correct PSI, check your air filter if it is clean as this will also affect your MPG. Also, when was the last time you had your fuel filter replaced? If you have not replaced this in a while this could also affect your MPG.
Good Luck

Spend 350 bucks for a computer programmer like Hypertech and you can gain 2-4 miles per gallon. I have a truck that was gettin 350 miles to 25 gallons. Now I get 475 with the Hypertech and a few other upgrades that paid itself off.

It sound such as you have what I call "a boat" normally 8 cylinders. If it a "Sled" it no longer properly worth plenty and you will adjust your engine. IF, you realize what Cylinders to "Drop" you additionally could make it run on 4-6 cylinders rather of 8. do away with the Valve hide and Disconnect the right Valves so they no longer open and do away with the spark plug wires. you could do away with the Plugs, yet, which could get noisy. What you doing is equivalent to the previous Cadillac 4-6-8 Engine, which replaced right into a flop, yet, good collector motor vehicle. it might initiate with 8 cylinders working and because it have been given up speed it might close down cylinders till it purely ran on 4. This purely a thought and provided as academic purposes and that i no longer take duty for in spite of. LOL. wish this facilitates and chuffed Sputtering.

Most Expeditions never leave the gas station. You are lucky you're able to go from gas station to gas station. You must live in the country where gas stations are spread out 11 miles apart.
