i have a 1988 chevy cavalier with an I4 and 5-speed manual. the car had occasionally not started for a while after i drove it, then it stopped starting altogether. i could push start it since it's a manual, but that turned out to be really inconvenient. i got a new starter, and the problem went away for a bit, then came back in a couple of months. then i got a new battery, and the problem went away, and came back in about a month. it is now beyond me why it does this. the starter MIGHT have been a rebuilt rather than a new, but i'm still baffled. please help.

Hello everyone...
Here's the deal. I have this mint original condition 1985 Ford Couuntry Squire wagon that I bought this spring, and I started hearing this noise in the original AM/FM Cassette radio from day one, but I just figured it was because that the original plug wires were old and needed changing. However, new wires, plugs and distributor cap have made no difference in the noise factor. It is obviously engine related, as the noise matches my RPM's. I hear it even when the cassette player is in operation, when it is on FM and of course loudest on AM radio selection.

So...what else can I change or look at to eliminate that aggravating noise?

Thank you.

My car just got stuck in the middle of the intersection. It's a 2002 Toyota Camry and it's been getting its oil changed regularl via the local Toyota dealer. However, my better half recently got it changed at Jiffy Lube. Could this be the culprit? or is a gear slipping caused by something else. Any ideas? The oil is still full, radiator looks okay, anything else I can look at?

TIA!!

I had my 96 Dodge Intrepid towed to Des Moines Chrysler for diagnostics. While rolling my car down a hill into the service garage, they managed to crash it into another vehicle. They have estimated the engine reapirs at $800 and the accident repairs at $1600. The $800 is more than I want to spend to have the car fixed. They said they won't fix the damage they caused unless I get the car repaired. They attempted to give me a great deal on another car but they declined my offer. They haven't given me a loaner and are wasting a lot of my time. What is a guy to do?

Everything's been changed-out except the wires, fuel pump, egrvalve and check valves. All new hoses, dist.cap, rotor, plugs, fuelfilters, oil, air cleaner, breather, pvc, each thing seems to feel better, but condition still exists. I get to work at 7am, but lunch or coming home, starts fine but a block away, stopped at a light, idles good, light's green, give it gas, and blaah..restarts get it in gear and I'm going but hesitates and if I let off the gas it dies again....or doesn't. Then runs great for two days.?!..I need to lose this stress. Could egr cause this, because smog tech says I need another one to pass smog but he says egr won't effect engine performance. True? What about octane?

to see if the alternator is junk, i unhooked the positive cable from the battery. is this a sound tactic for determining whether it's the alternator that is draining the battery?i did this in my truck too, to see if that alt. was bad and the truck still ran. but in the car when i did this the car stopped running. F.Y.I.... the airbag light flashes right before the battery goes dead. and before that happens, the airbag light just stays on. bad alternator?? a thanks a mill.

What is a good fair price to charge an individual to remove and re-install a transmission on an older model monte carlo for the car owner to take the transmission rebuilt elsewhere.
We are only concerned with a fair price to remove and re-install, the transmission will be re-built by another shop.
The individual taking the transmission out does not rebuild them.

Truck has a new thermostat. How can the upper radiator hose be hot and the lower hose be cold if coolant is moving through the system? If the coolant is not moving thru, then why doesn't the engine overheat.

I have a Mazda 6 04 and i learned about this mod to do on the airbox which takes out a few parts that was interupting the flow of air. A week or two after that the Check Engine light came on. I had it tested and the code said it was a "evap Leak". It is a known problem that the gas cap doesnt fully seal. But Im wondering if any of this could have any relation to the airbox mod.

They both have the same basis in the old O series engine, so I just wondered if anyone had actually seen it done either an engine swap or conversion or knows a sound reason why not.
I fancy a fast MG ZR but not the K series engine.
