What is a good fair price to charge an individual to remove and re-install a transmission on an older model monte carlo for the car owner to take the transmission rebuilt elsewhere.
We are only concerned with a fair price to remove and re-install, the transmission will be re-built by another shop.
The individual taking the transmission out does not rebuild them.

I would say anywhere between $250 and $400. You have to look at the time involved plus fluid and any extra parts if needed. Total time really shouldn't be too much more than 4 hours or so. Figure around $60.00 per hour or so. I think that's pretty close.

If it's a friend and they help. Usually a twelve pack will do. Otherwise, I'd charge at least 100 bucks to take it out and then put it back.
