Mine is doing the exact same thing, driver window. My husband said it is probably the motor, and depending on the make of your car is going to cost you a few hundred dollars. The reason it goes out first is because it is the window you roll up and down most often:-)

if it went down and its one of those where you dont have to hold the button the whole time, then it is the auto open circuit. a respectable shop should only charge for one hour plus parts. the going rate for a machanic is around $22 an hour, as far as the part cost... any where from 49.99 for a cheap car to 700(maby a little exagerated) for a bentley or rolls royce. I have torn apart MANY car part specifically motors and I would say that about 3 out of 70 of the motors were broken in some way. again motors can burn up from a malfunctioning auto open circuit. if it is the motor, this is about a two hour project. and if it is a ford, than sciplus.com might carry motors for it for around $20. I purchased these kind of motors from sciplus for a radio controlled lawn mower!

Its either off the track or has a broken tooth on the "belt" it works something similar to a motor attached to a belt with teeth on one side, and the motor turns the gears to make the window go up and down. Or your wiring is screwy... It could be any number of things like the motor being burnt out. If any of these are true its probably going to cost a minimum of $200-500 to get fixed.

I wish you luck.

The motor controlling the window is toast. If it needs to be replaced you are looking at between 200 - 500 dollars.

It sounds like a bad switch in that door. Go to a junk yard and get one to replace that one and see if that works. They are easy to replace. If you are not mechanically inclined, then find a relative or bf to help you.
