There would be a lot less road rage. Please try to use them so my son will be safe while learning how to drive.

Please don't be mean, I really want to understand.

It seems like every time I'm in a traffic lane that's going bumper-to-bumper, the other ones are all moving quickly. BUT THEN, after I switch to a faster lane, that faster lane suddenly becomes clogged, and the lane I was originally in magically clears up and starts moving. (Think Office Space and the first scene with the guy in the car on his way to work.) What's up with that?!

I was riding to work yesterday when I observed a female driver, who cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the driver to drive onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her. This evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out his window and gave the woman the finger.

"Man, that guy is stupid," I thought to myself. I ALWAYS smile nicely and wave in a sheepish manner whenever a female does anything to me in traffic, and here's why:

I drive 48 miles each way every day to work. That's 96 miles each day. Of these, 16 miles each way is bumper-to-bumper. Most of the bumper-to-bumper is on an 8 lane highway. There are 7 cars every 40 feet for 32 miles. That works out to 982 cars every mile, or 31,424 cars.

Even though the rest of the 32 miles is not bumper-to-bumper, I figure I pass at least another 4000 cars. That brings the number to something like 36,000 cars that I pass

every day. Statistically, females drive half of these. That's 18,000 women drivers!

In any given group of females, 1 in 28 has PMS. That's 642. According to Cosmopolitan, 70% describe their love life as dissatisfying or unrewarding. That's 449.

According to the National Institute of Health, 22% of all females have seriously considered suicide or homicide. That's 98. And 34% describe men as their biggest problem. That's 33. According to the National Rifle Association, 5% of all females carry weapons and this number is increasing.

That means that EVERY SINGLE DAY, I drive past at least one female that has a lousy love life, thinks men are her biggest problem, has seriously considered suicide or homicide, has PMS, and is armed. Give her the finger? I don't think so.

Or is commute time *not* that big a deal?

If YES, what amount of time (each way) would cause that to happen?

Mine include jackasses who sway to the right before turning left (practically hitting me as I go straight); idiots who stop at the intersection where there's NO stop sign; morons who pull right out (going 15) in front of me when I'm going 45; and my all-time worst pet peeve---TAILGAITERS!!!!! What drivers drive you crazy???

In more detail, when at a 4 way traffic light, if a car is making a left and a car is going straight, the driver going straight has the right of way. I'm really wanting to know why does the driver going straight just sit there like the person going left should be the one going first?

I am a new driver, and this is going to sound weird, but on the highway, I am having trouble changing lanes to the right. I have no problems doing it to the left though. I look in the mirrors, and I see both headlights, but the cars seem so close and I am scared to get over. Im also a little of afraid of looking over because I am scared I will lose slight control of my car. Any suggestions??? Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Americans commute an average of over 40 miles a day. How far do you commute every day? Or if housewife your daily errand runs. Why do you commute so far? Why do you choose to live so far from where you work?
