What amount of commute time (*each* way!) would be your absolute maximum?

Also, could you give me an idea of where you live, so I can compare? (I live in northern California, so the commutes here are crazy...)

My commute now is 20-25 miles each way (Atlanta, GA). Some people I know here have on the order of 40 to 50 miles each way.
Depends on you and your family situation.
i knew someone who worked for an airline that worked in NY and lived in FL. He commuted almost everyday by plane (of course).

I wouldn't wan't to waste more than an hour each day, so I'd say 30 minutes each way as a max.

Realistic depends on how hungry you are and how good the job is.

If you have been looking for 6 months, you may decide to commute for an hour while you continue to look for something closer. If you are already employed and are offered $200 a month more to commute for an hour longer, probably not.

I'm in Northern Cali also and its crazy. I think depending on the position, its potential and the pay no more than a hour each way. Ideal is 30 minutes or less.

Ten minutes each way. That is even getting too much so I am looking for a place even closer or right next to the lightrail. Maybe even downtown where I work so I can easily walk to work.
