It's German spec with a 1.8i engine (I think), I changed the alternator, belts, sparks plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and water pump. Now when I try to start it it tries but the engine won't turn over. What else could it be? Yes there is a full tank of gas in it and the battery is new. Any ideas? I am not the best with cars.

The ODB wiring is is the same wiring harness as the radio (only VW does this) I inherited it with the aftermarket radio. I have been told that disconnecting the radio may allow reading of ODB sensor. The worst part is, it will pass a dynamic test but the state of Illinois won't do it if the car has a ODB reader. Any one have a suggestion?

thinking about one for my wife as a gift, she needs a automatic trans but what type of mpg could she really get in one of these cars, what are the problems if any, i would like input from people that have owned this type of car both the diesel and gas models, she has to wait 3 years before immigration lets her come home to me, so i really wish to get her a nice car for all she has gone thru, and really don't want to buy a peace of junk for a gift, but if bugs are good it will be a yellow one, have a good day and thanks so much for the help.
