Okay there's a fitting in the bottom of the fuel tank where the fuel comes out, if you take the fitting out, there's a brass screen under the fitting, it's probably plugged up with dirt and rust. You can buy a new one for less than ten dollars. Or since your car doesn't have a gas gauge, it has a reserve petcock, the lever where the hump goes into the front of the car? Make sure your gas is turned on, if "that" doesn't give you gas, then the valve probably has to be taken apart and cleaned, okay? For parts, call
1-800-500-1500 for parts from "Mid America Motorworks" or go to , www.mamotorworks.com and my hubby say's whatever you need to know, they will more than likely be able to help you, okay? Good luck. P.s. We love our bugs!

You definitely have a problem. You have a plugged gas line/filter or a crimp somewhere in the gas line. Even though it's a new pump, it can still be bad. Remove the gas line from the pump and blow into it and listen to see if air is blowing into the tank (this will require 2 people) if it is the pump is bad, if not your line is blocked/plugged. Change the fuel filter too. Good luck

If the fuel pump is not getting fuel check the "flex" portion of the fuel line. It will be under the car just forward of the engine. It is a rubber hose that allows movement between the engine and the body. It can deteriorate and block fuel flow.

If there's no gas getting to the pump, the trouble is probably not the pump. You may have a clogged fuel line, gunk in the tank (it's a '58 after all) or it might be a clogged fuel filter.
