Buying & Selling - June 2007

I have a 2006 Honda Civic. At the time I bought it, I was given a 10.25% interest rate on my loan. My credit score has gone up considerably since then and I feel I can get a better interest rate now. I still owe close to $20,000 on my car loan and 18 months has passed by since I bought it originally. I love my car; I even put tinted windows on it! I would like to save some money in interest, though. So, I am wondering if I should refinance or purchase a new one. My bank can give me a 7.25% interest and they say it is the best move. The dealership has already sent me a letter saying "We need your used car!" It goes without saying that the sales rep is dying for me to come in and sell me a car. He also says it is the best thing to do. Whom do I believe? I hope I can get some great advice from you in this matter.

i was looking at a car earlier because i am real interested in it, and just plain getting another car.....here are the specs, all custom

1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1
351 Cleveland Engine
750 Edlebrock Carburator
Headers, 2 1/2 Aluminized Exhaust, flow
Masters Mufflers
New C-6 Transmission
New 3000 Stall Speed
390 Posi Rear End, Traction bars
New breaks
New interior
New paint, Black with Silver Racing Stripes
$25,000

The seller started it up and revved the engine and the engine block was shaking a little bit side to side when it was revved...is it just because so much power, or could something be wrong with the engine mounts? Of course, if I did get this car, I would take it to a shop and have it fully inspected

Thanks

I financed a 2001 Ford Focus for $7,000. I owe about $6,300 on it right now. I have a one year old and I'm not going to be abel to work anymore, so I'm not going to be able to afford the car loan. What options do I have? I thought of trying to sell it, but I'll never get $6,300 for it I don't think. Probably around $4-5,000 or something. Help! I need to figure something out so I can get rid of this car payment!

why can a company get away with selling the automobile for a third of what it is worth and make the owner pay the balance

Is this a scam? Because I'm looking to buy a car soon & I have bad credit. They want me to put $500 down. I know the interest rates would be sky high, but what other catches or schemes do they have?

I have 5 years of payments left on a car I hate. I cant afford to make more than one monthly payment on it but is there anything I can do to make it so it wont actually take me 5 years to pay it off? Meaning, is there any "rule" saying (for example) if I pay an extra $10.00 a month, that will shave a year off the length of the loan? Just using that as an example of course.

My girlfriend is thinking of purchasing a new car. I am a car nut, but have limited personal experience with this class of car.

If you own one of the following cars, what are your favorite and least favorite features and would you recommend the vehicle, overall?

2007 Mazda 3
2007 Honda Civic
2007 Toyota Corolla
2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Any other models you may recommend besides the Chevy Cobalt (Pontiac G5) or the Dodge Caliber? I won't consider these vehicles.

Thank you.

I have 15,000 dollars to spend on a car, but i'm headed off to grad school in about a year, and i need it to last me about 200,000 more miles with minimal repairs. I don't care if it's ugly or drives bad i just need a car with good reliability and good gas mileage.

I looked at the car - had to get to work. Said if you sell it today, before I get back to you, you can just return my $100. we both signed a piece of paper. after researching the car - I changed my mind about getting it - now she wont give me my $100 back.

There's a 2006 Crysler Pacifica that was purchased from an insurance auction....it had "Interior Burn" - which makes me think someone was smoking and dropped their cigarette....anyways they've replaced everything inside....just waiting on the seats....and it's been inspected by the state and given a salvage title allowing it to be driven on the road.

This thing only has like 11k miles on it....and they're selling it for $10,500....would you buy it? It'd be our family vehicle. I'd REALLY like to hear Logical reply's from Mechanics etc....and stay away from emotional "what-if's"....I already have enough "what-if's" in my head already! Thanks!

I was sure I wanted to sell my car myself, since I'll get more money than trading it in. But the car salesman told me trading in is good because it reduces the amount of tax I pay on my new car. Is this true? Is it a good idea?

I'd been paying for my car for a year now, however financially things got bad lately. I became one payment behind. The lender kept calling me for payment and wanted me to send payment in to them right away via western union, well I told them I didn't have the payment at this time. I tried to arrange payment with them, but they refused and told me that if I didn't come up with the past due amount and this month too they would take the car. Well, a couple days later it happened. They repossed the car. I don't know if I should try it get it back or risk paying the difference. I still owe $33,000 on that damn truck. Do you think they will still work with me? why? why not?

If I have the money to buy a brand new 2007 Toyota Prius outright IN CASH upfront--will the dealer give me a few thousand dollars off?

The sticker price is about $22,000, so if I can pay that upfront, will he give me a better deal AND what other perks could I get for paying for in cash??

Should I tell him I can pay for it in cash??

Thanks!

There's dealers or services that specializes in helping with it but the point is that I must NOT apply with the wrong dealer because they may send my car loan application to many lenders whose program requirements I do not meet. I know If this happens my score may be lowered and when I am finally approved it may be at a higher rate than I would have received if my car loan application was sent to the right lender in the first place. That's the catch. I know also If my score is less than 600 I must find an automobile dealership or online service that specializes in special credit situations to obtain an auto loan through a bank or traditional finance company. You can give your recommendations as a websites or already tested by your self or your friends sources where I can be more confident to complete the task.
Thank you very much in advance to all of you!

I bought a second hand motorbike from a dealer around 8 week ago and it came with a 3 month gurantee.

It has started having problems. I took it back to the dealer last week and they said the coolant top wasnt on right and they have ordered a camchain adjuster. On my ride home i noticed the inner right air intake hadn't been put on correctly was catching on the forks when I turned right. I took it back to the shop and they fixed it.

After my ride to work the following morning I noticed coolant had leaked and had made a hand size patch on the car park . Also the camchain seems to be a lot worse.

The dealer is wanting another chance to try and solve the problems but seems reluctant to give me my money back. I think I would be a lot happier with a refund as the problems and service have put me off a lot. Also I think the dealer wouldnt be as "helpful" if anything went wrong in the next few weeks when the guarantee runs out.

Where do I stand legally if I ask for my money back?
