I recently went to look at a used car and they had the price of the car, the tax, and another item that read "dealer fees". It was about 185 dollars.

The dealer fees cover the huge amount of paper work the dealer has to do to sell a car in any state.Plus they have to keep that paper work at least five years.Just in case the city or state wants to see it in the future.Plus the feds might want to see it in case of a mileage problem at time of sale.

Most do, but some don't list them as a separate thing on the invoice, they just quietly raise the price to cover it. Something has to cover rent and utilities after all.

Totally normal, but it is pure profit, only problem is the salespeople nor the Manager get paid off of this, so they are unlikley to negotiate on it.
