That's an odd pair to choose from, they are very different cars. If you want something that's fun to drive, and with a stick shift, then the GTI would be the answer. If you want a luxurious, comfortable cruiser then go with the MKZ.

They also tend to appeal to very different crowds, which may influence your decision. The GTI skews more towards 18-30 year olds. The MKZ is more like 32+. Let's face it, if you're spending $30k on a car, it's about more than just getting from point A to point B.

I'd avoid Volkwswagen as well. My wife used to be a service advisor for several car companies. VWs were the worst. They're made in two places. Mexico and Germany. The cars from Germany were much less troublesome than the cars made in Mexico.

Go for the MKZ. This particular Lincoln is VERY sporty while also being VERY luxurious.. Ask the guys over at http://www.lincolnowners.com why they love their MKZs!

Avoid VW whenever possible. Go with the Lincoln.

Lincoln, they are good and reliable. WV breaks down a lot and only can be repaired in the dealership.
